Born into a lineage of farmers, I unearthed my passion for nature amidst rustic fields and yearly chestnut harvests. Following my studies in Canada, I returned to Japan, immersing myself in eco-tourism and eventually establishing my own guiding enterprise. Now, with a son who has ventured afar, our family of three savors the serenity and splendor of Yakushima's natural marvels.

Trained at an outdoor guide school in Canada, I returned to Japan and made Yakushima Island my home in 2001, embracing the role of a seasoned mountain guide. Specializing in eco-tours, I lead expeditions through the island's lush forests, marveling at its rich tapestry of flora and fauna. Alongside guiding, I also manage "Tsubaki Shoten," a quaint store offering natural foods and goods in the Miyanoura area. With a deep-rooted belief in the vast diversity of even the tiniest forest ecosystems, I invite you to join me on an unforgettable adventure into nature's embrace.
The impetus for my relocation to Yakushima sprang from an unwavering passion for lure fishing. Amidst my daily forays to the sea in pursuit of the sport, I found myself entranced by the sprawling forests of Yakushima beckoning behind me. As I traversed the woodland expanse, a profound realization dawned upon me: "The depths of Yakushima's natural allure are truly profound." Enthralled by nature's allure, I am wholeheartedly devoted to elucidating the rich tapestry of Yakushima's ecosystems and its unique way of life.

Specializing in the artistry of Yakusugi, I meticulously craft creations that pay homage to its beauty and rarity. By utilizing Yakusugi, safeguarded from logging, I fuse innovative craftsmanship with refined techniques to fashion distinctive pieces found solely in Yakushima. These aren't mere souvenirs; they're keepsakes designed to keep Yakushima's spirit alive in your heart long after your journey concludes. My dedication lies in offering Yakushima's visitors coveted and unmatched treasures.
During my university tenure, I became an avid member of the Wonderful Club, igniting my passion for the great outdoors as I traversed Japan on foot, conquering peaks and pedaling through landscapes. Concurrently, while delving into the realm of Chemistry, I pursued advanced studies in graduate school, laying the foundation for my comprehension of the natural sciences. In 2000, I resettled on Yakushima Island, curating and leading eco-tours amidst its breathtaking panoramas.
Doubling as a photographer, my work has Japan National Tourism Organization and Japan Broadcasting Corporation(NHK).
My academic pursuits led me to delve into tourism, culminating in the fulfillment of my childhood aspiration to shepherd in New Zealand. Despite the daily rigors of tending to sheep in mountainous terrain, the cuisine and natural environs were unparalleled. This stint deepened my reverence for working in harmony with nature. Upon discovering the allure of Yakushima Island's nature and lifestyle, I embraced my vocation as a nature guide and made the move.
